Abbott and Costello Comics #29 contains two stories. "Seen But Not Heard" depicts Abbott and Costello at a social gathering where they attempt to win a bet by remaining silent for half an hour, but their antics—including riding a horse indoors and disrupting a wedding—cause chaos and result in them losing the wager. "Discover America" shows Abbott and Costello aboard a ship sailing to Patterson, New Jersey, where Costello, dressed as a sailor, is mistaken for a distinguished naval officer and fawned over by passengers and crew members.

When Bud Abbott bets Lou Costello ten dollars he can't stay quiet for half an hour, Lou accepts the challenge—but his silence leads to a case of mistaken identity at a circus stunt, where he gets mixed up with a dummy scheduled to be dropped from a skyscraper. What follows is a wild scramble involving movers, a professor, and increasingly frantic attempts to sort out who's the real performer and who's the prop before it's too late.
