The story unfolds with eerie tension, as the witch doctor’s return from the grave promises a reckoning. Mike Sekowsky’s art, inked by Mike Peppe and lettered by Herb Field, brings the tale’s dark mystique to life, while George Roussos’s cover captures the island’s sinister allure.

Albert Dupres, escaped convict from a penal colony, finds shelter with a native witch doctor. Robbing and killing the man, Dupres leaves the island with magic potions and builds a new life for himself. By baking his enemies deadly "breads of madness", Dupres becomes a powerful man. In the end the witch doctor returns from the dead and serves him a murderous bite.
