Adventures of Superman: George Pérez #[nn]
In "The Once-and-Future War!", George Pérez and Nicola Scott deliver a pulse-pounding chapter where Supergirl rushes to save Billy McCoy, only to face a creature eerily resembling Superman—driven by a mysterious, ancient programming. As the real Superman awakens in space, linked psychically to the entity, he uncovers its origins in the nanites of Jazuur, a world touched by the Collector of Worlds, and races back to Earth to end the threat. The issue’s dynamic art by Pérez, Scott, and Trevor Scott, with vibrant colors by Brett Smith, brings the cosmic stakes to life, all on a cover painted and inked by Pérez himself.

Supergirl arrives just in time to save Billy McCoy, so the creature who looks like Superman turns its attention to her. In the midst of their fight, Lois' shouts rouse the real Superman, who is floating in space. Realizing he is psychically linked to the creature, Superman uncovers that it is a creation of nanites from Jazuur -- a planet once visited by the Collector of Worlds -- who are trying to create the kind of order they were programmed to create on Jazuur. Superman returns to Earth and takes care of the nanites, throwing their remains into the sun.
