Agata #3
The third volume of Olivier Berlion's *Agata* series, subtitled *L'Étoile du Sud*, opens with a cover that radiates period elegance: the titular Agata, dressed in a teal coat trimmed with dark fur and wearing a grey beret, perches composedly atop a travel trunk on a bustling railway platform, a small case resting in her hands. Travelers and station workers move through the grand iron-and-glass terminal around her, a steam train idling alongside the platform, lending the whole scene a sense of imminent departure and quiet tension. Berlion's warm, painterly linework is as assured as ever, making this 2022 Glénat album a genuinely inviting addition to this atmospheric Franco-Belgian series.
