One of Baron von Richthofen's fighter aces, Baron von Emmelmann, is shot down, his body being thrown into a swamp, where it merges with vegetation. Over a long period of time, from that swamp arises a being neither animal nor human: The Heap. In 1942, with the Nazis bringing their viciousness and cruelty to the land near the swamp, the Heap inadvertantly aides the SkyWolf and his comrades against the Nazi horde.
