Airboy Comics #1 [36]
In "The Elephants' Graveyard," young model-plane enthusiast Rickie teams up with his soldier friend Tom after winning first prize at the National Model Plane Show with a replica of Airboy’s famed Birdie. When the pair is ambushed by thugs seeking the Emmelman Pearls, Rickie is left buried alive—only to use his model plane to signal for help. Written by Dick Wood and illustrated by Art Peddy, with inks by Bernard Sachs and colors by Wood, this 1947 adventure blends wartime tension and ingenuity. The cover, by Dan Barry, captures the moment of peril with striking detail.
