Airboy Comics #10 [105]
In "The Invaders From Eboli," a legendary mechanical rice dragon—born of ancient tradition and crafted for harvest blessings—awakens with a will of its own when a tyrannical General forces its creation for war. When the builder’s daughter is taken hostage, the dragon’s purpose twists into something far darker, and it falls to the Heap to confront the living machine before it brings ruin. Penciled and inked by Ernest Schroeder, this 1952 adventure blends myth and machinery in a story that’s as inventive as it is suspenseful.

Since the times of ancient Japan, a mechanical rice dragon was built each year as an ingenious sacrifice and hope for a good harvest. One day, a dictatorial General bids Sanshu to build a new mechanical dragon, but is refused when the builder realizes that it will be used for evil purposes. So the General kidnaps the builder's daughter to force him to build, then refuses to release her because he wants to marry her. The rice dragon then takes on a life of its own and the Heap must put an end to it.
