Airboy Comics #12 [71]
In "The Coming of Zzed," a 1950 Hillman classic, the Heap and a schoolmaster take on the daunting task of guiding a group of war-displaced children who’ve taken refuge in the Wasau Forest. Misunderstood by the townspeople, who blame the children for stolen crops, the kids fight back in fear—forcing the Heap to bridge the gap between innocence and survival. Written, drawn, and inked by Ernie Schroeder, this issue features cover art by Schroeder as well, capturing the eerie, earnest tone of a world where children become both victims and warriors.

The innocent victims of the war.....the children, are rescued by the Heap and taken to safety in the Wasau Forest. Unfortunately, the townspeople believe that these "little people of the woods" come down at night and steal all of their crops. Believing that the townspeople are their enemies, the children strike back at anyone threatening them, and it's up to the Heap and schoolmaster to re-civilize these children.
