A spaceship going through extended trouble develops problems in its hibernation program. The ship's computer programmer realizes there won't be enough food for all 17 of the crew to survive. When he tells the others one person must be chosen to die, the crew gang up on him and throw him in the airlock. However, the programmer had foreseen this and when they attempt to blow him into space, it opens another airlock and kills them instead. The programmer is left to return home alone.
