“Counterfeit Love”

In "Counterfeit Love," newly engaged Carol and Steve face a rift when Carol’s sudden win on the quiz show *A Fortune is Yours* upends Steve’s idea of traditional roles—his pride clashes with his fear of not being the primary provider. As Steve prepares to leave for Europe, Carol makes a quiet choice that tests the real meaning of love and sacrifice. Joe Orlando handles both art and inks, with lettering by Artie Simek, while George Klein’s cover captures the tension of a relationship hanging in the balance.

Carol and Steve are engaged but he says “I’ve always felt I should never marry until I could adequately support a wife.” Carol goes on televised quiz show “A Fortune is Yours” and wins $4000 the first night. Steve is upset: “I’ve got to be the the big earner...not the woman I marry!” They break up, and Steve prepares to leave for Europe on business. Carol deliberately loses the chance to win $300,000 and is reunited with Steve.
