Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #1

History

The series was announced in early 2015 as the official replacement for The Amazing Spider-Man during Marvel's Secret Wars event, with Axel Alonso publicly describing it as 'your Spider-Man' for readers invested in the marriage. Longtime Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott — who had previously gone on record supporting the dissolution of the Peter-MJ marriage in 'One More Day' — was a pointed and intentional choice as writer, a creative tension that generated significant pre-publication discussion in the fan community. Adam Kubert handled pencils, with John Dell on inks and Justin Ponsor on colors, and editor Nick Lowe shepherded the book under editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. The Earth-18119 version of Peter Parker had received an early-bird cameo in the anthology short 'It's the Little Things' in Spider-Verse #2 (January 2015), several months before this debut issue reached stands on June 3, 2015.
