An Asterix Adventure #[10]

The eighth Asterix album in the Hodder Dargaud series sends our favorite pint-sized Gaul and the irrepressible Obelix on an adventure to the land of cheese and gold — and Uderzo's cover captures that combination perfectly, showing the two companions bursting cheerfully out of a heavy stone vault, surrounded by a glittering cascade of gold coins, with Obelix clutching an enormous wedge of Swiss cheese and Asterix holding a delicate little flower. Goscinny's wit and Uderzo's warm, expressive linework are on full display in this sun-bright composition that promises both treasure and laughs in equal measure. A thoroughly enjoyable entry in one of comics' most beloved series.
