The first volume of *Anachron* announces itself with a striking cover: two armed figures — one cloaked and wielding a sword, the other in military gear with a firearm — stand back to back atop what appears to be the prow of a vessel, a massive full moon glowing behind them. The pairing of medieval and modern weaponry says everything about the series' central tension, and writer Cailleteau and artist Jurion establish that clash of eras with confident visual economy. Subtitled *Le Retour de la Bête*, this 2001 Vents d'Ouest release promises a world where different times and styles of combat collide in intriguing ways.
