Zheng kidnaps Angel and tells him that the gypsies cursed Angel as a trial run to see if a soul could be bound to a vampire. The gypsies' real intent was to give Zheng a soul so he could serve as their champion. The curse did not work on him, so he has decided to take Angel's soul for himself. Gunn rescues Angel and Zheng appears to die in an explosion.
