It follows Buddy Baker, a superhero who can tap into the abilities of any animal, as he discovers a dark and primal connection to the Red—the source of all animal life—and faces a terrifying threat to his family and the natural world. The volume collects issues #1-6 of the DC Comics New 52 run.
In "Die Jagd Teil Eins: Warnung aus dem Rot," Buddy Baker—still reeling from his unexpected fame after a film role—finds himself pulled back into the superhero world when a distraught father takes over a hospital’s children’s ward. But even as he faces a crisis in the city, Buddy’s real challenge lies closer to home: his daughter Maxine has decided she wants a pet, and her choice might be harder to manage than any villain.
In "Die Jagd Teil Vier: Die Fäule," Buddy and Maxine fight to protect the living Avatar of the Red as two of the Hunters Three close in, while Ellen and Cliff flee with Detective Krenshaw—unaware he’s already been replaced by the third Hunter.
In "Die Jagd Finale: Nahrungskette," Buddy and Maxine return from the Red to confront the surviving Hunter, racing to save Ellen and Cliff. When Buddy’s life hangs in the balance, Maxine taps into the power of the Red to save him—only to find her act sets off a chain reaction with far-reaching, unforeseen effects.
