Following the battle at Amnesty Bay, Mera has collapsed from the strain of using her aquakinesis to defeat Mecha Manta. Aquaman rushes her to Atlantis for treatment, where a group of concerned acquaintances gather. They learn that Mera is in a coma until her body repairs itself, but Aquaman is surprised to learn he has become a father, as his and Mera's daughter has been born prematurely but healthy.
