“Cruise Director”

In "Cruise Director," Archie finds himself in a sticky situation when a mishap with a beaker of acid leads to a series of escalating accidents—first in the chemistry lab, then in Mr. Weatherbee’s office, where even the varnish and desk legs aren’t safe. Written by Frank Doyle and brought to life with classic charm by artist Harry Lucey, with inks by Mario Acquaviva and lettering by the same, this 1964 issue captures the timeless chaos of Riverdale’s favorite teen. The cover by Bob White perfectly captures the moment’s absurd tension.

Archie accidentally drops a beaker of acid that eats through the chemistry floor. Banned from the chemistry lab, Mr. Weatherbee asks Archie to polish his chair and desk. But Archie accidentally adds a small test tube of acid into the varnish, which eats away the varnish brushes as well as the legs of Mr. Weatherbee's desk.
