Archie Cash #6
“Où règnent les rats”
The sixth album in this Belgian thriller series finds Archie Cash in a grim spot — battered, bandaged arm and all, seated among a swarm of enormous rats that gnaw at scattered dollar bills at his feet while more close in around him. Malik's cover art for this 1978 Dupuis release is viscerally atmospheric, pairing the menace of the encroaching rodents with Cash's tense, defiant expression to suggest a man who's down but very much not out. Brouyère's scenario and Malik's linework make *Où règnent les rats* a compelling addition to the series.
