“The Low-Down Highbrow”

In "The Low-Down Highbrow," Archie’s attempt to keep Veronica off Reggie’s radar by having Jughead court her nightly backfires in the most unexpectedly poetic way. With George Frese handling both pencils and inks, the story unfolds as Jughead’s highbrow dates—complete with opera and poetry—leave Veronica longing for something a little less refined. Bob Montana’s cover captures the whimsy of the moment, perfectly framing the chaos of Archie’s well-intentioned scheme.

When Archie leaves town for a week, he asks Jughead to date Veronica every night to keep her away from Reggie. His plan backfires when Jughead's idea of dates (reading poetry, listening to operas, etc.) makes Veronica bored with Archie's dates upon his return.
