Volume 11 of Shin'ichi Sakamoto's *Ascension* — based on Jiro Nitta's novel and published by Delcourt/Tonkam — delivers a cover that plunges you straight into the mountain's fury: a goggled climber is engulfed in a violent explosion of snow and ice, their face barely visible through the white-out chaos. It's a quietly arresting image that captures the raw, elemental tension this series is known for, and by 2012 Sakamoto's crisp linework had firmly established this as one of the more visually striking alpine manga available in French.
