This German-language album from Splitter Verlag opens the *Die Alten Knacker* series with a cover that perfectly sets the tone: against a bold yellow background, two elderly men face off in silhouette — one lean and silver-haired, casually smoking, the other compact and gesturing — while a small gorilla in a bow tie stands between them, hinting at the delightfully absurd adventures ahead. Creators Lupano and Cauuet bring a sharp graphic sensibility to the scene, rendered in confident black and gold silhouettes that feel equal parts stylish thriller and dry comedy. If you're in the mood for something genuinely original from 2016's European comics scene, this first volume looks like a very promising start.
