Babs: The Black Road South #3
Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows continue their sword-and-sorcery series with a cover that sets a genuinely ominous tone: two warrior women — one armored in Spartan-style helm and cape, the other in scaled battle gear and cloak — stand their ground amid the gnarled roots of a monstrous, leafless tree, its upper branches giving way to the snarling maw of a massive winged creature with glowing green eyes. The desolate landscape of jagged black spires stretching into a grey sky behind them makes "The Black Road South" feel like a very apt subtitle. Issue three from AHOY Comics promises dark fantasy adventure with a distinct edge.
