James blir strandsatt på en öde ö och snubblar över La Projecte, en hemlig fransk militäroperation där man använder ett hålrum efter atomprovsprängningar för att efterjäsa 30 års överproduktion av vin. En enda jättestor champagneflaska ska sedan med sitt tryck skicka upp Frankrikes nya rymdstation i omloppsbana och krossa alla andra länders dito. James blunder gör att stationen skjuts upp i förtid med Franrikes president ombord och rusar vidare ut i världsrymden...
