“Idän hengetär”

In "Idän hengetär," Barbie is haunted by the missing brooch “Idän Tähti” as she attends Mrs. Drayton’s evening party. Using a borrowed glow-in-the-dark gown, a cassette for sound effects, and a cleverly staged ruse involving roller skates and a note, she conjures the illusion of the “Idän tähden hengetär” to unmask Valerie’s guilt—only to confess her own deception when conscience takes over. The story, told with a playful mix of suspense and heart, sees Barbie return the brooch and explain her scheme to Skipper, all rendered in the distinctive style of cover by Tim Spinosi.

The missing brooch “Idän Tähti” still bothers Barbie. At Mrs. Drayton’s evening party, Barbie stages a glowing “spirit” to spook Valerie—who flees outside, sees the “Idän tähden hengetär” and panics. Conscience-stricken, she confesses she stole the brooch intending to “find” it later to deflect suspicion. Forgiven, she returns it. Barbie explains to Skipper that she engineered the ruse: a note to lure Valerie, roller skates and a cassette for sound effects, and a borrowed glow-in-the-dark gown (“Unelmien hehku-puku”) to play the spirit.
