“Amour perdu”

"Amour perdu" is a quietly haunting story from Bataclan #6 (1967), a 1.00 FRF comic that unfolds with the delicate tension of memory and longing. When Françoise learns Charles is returning to his hometown, she and her friend Anne set off together, only to find their journey interrupted by a mysterious motel and a past that refuses to stay buried. The story’s emotional weight comes not from grand gestures, but from the quiet revelations shared between two women who once believed they were loved in return.

When Françoise sees a newspaper headline that Charles is returning to his hometown, she tells her boyfriend that she wants to return home for two weeks to see her parents. Her friend Anne also wants to return to Lake City, so they travel together. On the way there, they stop at a motel run by an old friend Kate and her husband. He reveals that Kate has a history with Charles and that night Françoise and Anne swap bedtime stories that are actually their own past experiences with Charles. The next morning, they realize that Charles was never serious about them and they decide to go back.
