“Book One”

In "Book One" of *Batman: Damned*, a wounded Batman staggers from an ambulance, disoriented and with no memory of how he got there. Found by John Constantine, he learns the unthinkable: the Joker is dead—but neither of them knows how it happened. Written by Brian Azzarello and vividly illustrated by Lee Bermejo, this dark, atmospheric tale kicks off with a haunting mystery that pulls Batman into a world where the line between truth and nightmare blurs. The cover, also by Lee Bermejo, captures the grim intensity of the story’s opening.
