Batman: Eye of the Beholder #[nn]
Tony S. Daniel pulls double duty as writer and cover artist on this 2011 DC collection, and the cover alone sets a striking tone: a battered, defiant Batman — arrows piercing his costume and blood on his chest — crouches atop an ornate golden dragon statue, gripping a blade amid sweeping red banners inscribed with Asian characters, with a pagoda looming in the shadowy background. The imagery suggests a Dark Knight pushed to his limits in a distinctly exotic, dangerous setting, a long way from Gotham's familiar streets. With interior art by Steve Scott and Ryan Winn bringing "Hear No Evil" to life, this is a visually compelling package for fans of Batman at his most tested.
