Beetle Bailey: You Crack Me Up #56086
Mort Walker's long-running army-base strip gets a satisfying paperback collection with this 1984 Tor Books edition. The cover says it all: a rotund, arms-crossed Sarge in olive green looks supremely unimpressed as a rope — stretched taut with a resounding "CRACK" — connects his fist to a hapless, vibrating Beetle Bailey, whose whole body is rattling from the impact. It's the Camp Swampy dynamic in one perfectly timed image, and there's plenty more of that good-natured mayhem waiting inside.
