Best of 2000AD #1
Billed as "the essential gateway into the Galaxy's Greatest Comic," this handsome Volume 1 anthology from Rebellion makes a compelling case for itself right from the cover. Jamie McKelvie's artwork places a determined silver-haired woman leveling a pistol squarely at the viewer in the foreground, while the helmeted, scowling Judge Dredd stands armed and ready at her shoulder — all set against a vivid futuristic cityscape with shadowy reaching hands looming at the bottom of the frame. It's a confident introduction to the world of 2000 AD, and with John Wagner writing and Kev Walker on art and inks for the interior story "Mutie Block Part 1," the content inside has every reason to live up to that striking first impression.
