Betty Boop #3

Part of Blackthorne's "Comic-Strip Preserves" series, this third volume collecting Betty Boop strips captures the animated spirit of the character perfectly right on its cover. Betty comes sliding in full-speed, arms wide and shouting "Gangway! Gangway!" while a hapless bystander tumbles aside and hats, shoes, and a small dog scatter in every direction. It's a wonderfully chaotic snapshot of the irreverent charm that made these King Features strips so endearing, and at $5.95 it's a great way to revisit that vintage energy in 1987.
