Michael DeForge's *Big Kids*, published by Atrabile, announces itself with a cover as strange and alive as anything in alt-comics — two intertwined plant-like figures, one rendered in pink and one in green, their limb-like stems and root-tendrils tangled together against a blazing yellow field, small white flower clusters blooming from their frames. DeForge's unmistakable hand-lettered title and signature ground the whole thing in a deeply personal, almost biological vision of transformation.
