Birds of Prey #8 drops a striking cover by Jesús Saiz that puts Black Canary front and center, surging forward with fierce determination as flames and debris erupt around her. Flanking her are teammates Poison Ivy, Batgirl, and a masked figure — the whole team caught mid-crisis against a backdrop of burning chaos. The tagline "From Black Canary's past… assassins on a mission of vengeance!" hints that writer Duane Swierczynski is digging into dangerous history in "A Far Cry," making this 2012 New 52 installment a compelling entry in the series.
