Black Diamond and Randito ride across the desert engaging in a spirited competition and banter about their respective cleverness and skills, with Randito boasting about his guitar and Black Diamond about his prowess. After a train robbery orchestrated by the bandit Higgins, Marshal Sam and his companions pursue the culprit; during a stagecoach journey to Gold City, the Marshal recovers from a gunshot wound and discovers that Higgins, the outlaw responsible for numerous robberies in the region, has been apprehended thanks to the efforts of Harvey Pecker, a clever traveling salesman. Pecker reveals that Higgins had infiltrated the company's operations and was using his position to plan robberies, but Pecker's quick thinking and disguise helped capture the bandit and recover nearly ten thousand dollars in payroll cash.
