Black Panther #48
In "The Death of the Black Panther Book 1 of 2: The King Is Dead," Christopher Priest and Sal Velluto deliver a gripping chapter in T'Challa’s saga, as the Wakandan king returns from a temporal journey only to face a new crisis: the arrival of a future Black Panther sent from ten years ahead by the enigmatic Brass Frogs. With his own health failing and a desperate plan to save his people, T'Challa must confront the consequences of past choices—especially when Man-Ape, released by Queen Divine Justice, shatters the stasis tube meant to preserve the future warrior. Shin Nagasawa’s striking cover captures the weight of this turning point.

T'Challa reveals that the "Happy Pants" Black Panther is not from the past, but was sent from 10 years in the future by the Brass Frogs. The future Black Panther collapses and is placed into stasis again to save his life. T'Challa reveals that he himself now suffers from the same aneurysm due to his fight with Iron Fist.
