Blade of the Immortal #14
Hiroaki Samura's painterly cover for this 2005 Dark Horse volume says everything about the series' mood: a battle-worn warrior, hair wild and kimono spattered with blood, clutches a blade while a young woman in red stands close at his back — two figures bound together by circumstance, tension etched into every line. The worn, earthy palette and remarkable draftsmanship make *Last Blood* feel less like a pulp adventure and more like a work of feudal-era fine art. If you haven't been following *Blade of the Immortal*, this cover alone is a compelling argument to start.
