In "Six-Gun Menace," Bob Steele pursues an outlaw named Devlin into Native American territory, discovering that Devlin has been spreading lies about stealing horses to create conflict. Steele must track down Devlin and his men while navigating the dangerous situation he has created. In "Doc Sorebone's Lead Poisoning," a doctor treats a young boy who has swallowed a fountain pen and must manage the boy's anxious mother, while simultaneously becoming involved in a mayoral election scheme where a politician named Mr. Rudd spreads lies to manipulate voters and gain power.
When evil rustlers steal Chief Camora's ponies, the tribe faces starvation—but Bob Steele steps in to provide horses from his own ranch, only to discover that someone has deliberately poisoned the animals to keep the Indian people from hunting. Now Bob and Chief Camora must work together to save the herd and uncover who's really behind the ruthless scheme.
Bob Steele tries to motivate his lazy friend Fizzy by needling him about his lack of ambition, but Fizzy's deadpan responses and circular logic keep turning the tables on the exasperated cowboy. As Bob pushes Fizzy to get a job and think about his future, the sleepy character counters with wisecracks that leave Bob groaning in defeat.
Doc Sorebones gets an urgent call from a frantic Mrs. Fitch—her young son has swallowed a fountain pen—but the doctor is busy with another patient and tells her to wait an hour. When Mrs. Fitch desperately asks what to do in the meantime, Doc Sorebones offers some quick practical advice that plays on the dark humor of the situation.
When gambling kingpin Amos Rudd schemes to seize control of Junction City by installing his puppet candidate in the mayoral election, he unleashes a gang of hired guns to intimidate voters and silence opposition—but he hasn't counted on Bob Steele's intervention. As Rudd's thugs escalate their campaign of violence against honest citizens and merchants, Bob rallies the townspeople to stand up for their right to a fair vote. With the election just days away and the stakes turning deadly, Bob must stop Rudd's plot before the outlaw's grip on the town becomes absolute.
When Dimwit Diddle accepts an invitation to lunch, his unconventional table manners lead to a comedic showdown over the proper way to handle silverware. This one-page western humorist finds the frontier hero Bob Steele caught between exasperation and the kind of deadpan logic that only a character like Dimwit can deliver.
