The third volume of Gwen de Bonneval and Hugues Micol's Ottoman-set series carries the subtitle Le Turc, and the cover delivers on that promise with a richly detailed procession through cobblestoned streets. A turbaned rider in vivid yellow and red robes commands the scene on horseback, surrounded by a colorful retinue of officials, guards bearing ceremonial staffs, and onlookers pressed against ornate Ottoman architecture. Micol's warm, watercolor-tinged linework gives the whole image a painterly grandeur that makes this 2013 Dargaud release feel like a window into another world entirely.
