Part of DC Vertigo's Sandman Universe line and inspired by the mind of Neil Gaiman, *Books of Magic Vol. 2: Second Quarto* collects Kat Howard's writing alongside art from Tom Fowler, Brian Churilla, Jordan Boyd, and more. Kai Carpenter's cover says it all: a bespectacled young boy in a school uniform tumbles through a deep blue void, blazing magical sigils swirling around him while dark, reaching hands close in from every direction — power and peril in perfect tension. It's a beautifully unsettling image that captures exactly the kind of wonder and danger this corner of the DC universe does so well.
