Boyfriend #94
In "The People Between Us," teenage love faces a double barrier when Heather’s father disapproves of her boyfriend Tony—only to later learn Tony is the son of his own company’s director. But even that revelation doesn’t ease the tension, as Tony’s father refuses to let him see Heather, fearing a scandal. Written and illustrated by Shirley Bellwood, this poignant 1961 tale captures the quiet defiance of young romance in the face of class divides, all rendered in the distinctive style of its creator.
