Brenda #22
In "The Great Mysto," Brenda takes on a high-stakes assignment to interview Leigh Davenport, owner of the famed racehorse Bold Fury, and its trainer Mike Dugan. Just as she arrives at Davenport’s estate, she stumbles upon a tense confrontation between Dugan and two thugs trying to force him into sabotaging his own horse. The would-be saboteurs flee upon her arrival, but their actions set off a chain of events that pulls Brenda into a deeper mystery—especially when she learns the plot is tied to Bram Basset, owner of rival horse Legend, who will stop at nothing to win. Yaroslav Horak handles art, inks, and lettering, while Larry Horak provides the cover.

Brenda is assigned to interview Leigh Davenport, the owner of Bold Fury, prize-winning race horse, and its trainer, Mike Dugan. But as she arrives at Davenport's estate she witnesses two thugs putting the muscle on Dugan. The hoods were trying to coerce the trainer into doping the horse and thereby losing the Golden Stakes, the most prestigious of all races. Brenda's arrival interrupts their meeting with Dugan and they flee, but report back to Bram Basset, the owner of Legend, a rival horse, who is determined to see his horse win by fair means or foul.
