About this Collection

This unique collected edition presents four of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies—A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Taming of the Shrew—entirely reimagined through the medium of LEGO bricks. Each play is faithfully adapted with brick-built characters and sets, capturing the plots and dialogue of the originals in a whimsical, visual format. Published by Skyhorse Publishing in 2013, this volume offers a creative and accessible entry point for both Shakespeare enthusiasts and LEGO fans.

A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Taming of the Shrew come to life in this vibrant comic adaptation, with William Shakespeare’s timeless words brought vividly to the page by Monica Sweeney and Becky Thomas, and rendered in bold, expressive art by John McCann. The story unfolds with the sharp wit of Beatrice and Benedick’s endless banter, their friends’ clever schemes, and a web of deception that threatens to unravel a wedding—only for truth and reconciliation to rise like dawn. The cover, also by McCann, captures the drama and humor in striking, dynamic lines.

Since Beatrice and Benedick constantly bicker at each other, their friends successfully trick them into falling in love. But Don John, seeking to sow discord, convinces Claudio that his intended bride Hero is sexually profligate. Claudio and Don Pedro disgrace her at the wedding, for which Beatrice demands that Benedick kill Claudio. Before they can fight some clumsy constables uncover the plot. Claudio repents and is reconciled with Hero, Don John is punished, and a double wedding ensues.
