Brides in Love #35
In "Goodbye Happiness," Lillian Callaghan’s decision to marry the owner of a hamburger stand sparks tension with her mother, who opposes the match. As her father quietly steps aside, letting his wife take charge of the family, Lillian and her sister begin to wonder what secret binds him to her mother’s authority—until a long-buried memory resurfaces about a past act of kindness that reshapes everything. The story unfolds with quiet emotional weight, drawing on personal history and shifting family dynamics, all rendered in the expressive style of Pat Masulli and Dick Giordano on the cover.

When Lillian Callaghan announces she is going to marry the owner of a hamburger stand, her mother is against it. When the father is drawn into the conflict, Lillian and her sister press to find out what hold their mother has over him since he seems to have abdicated as boss of the family and allowed their mother to run everything. Then he recalls his role in helping a girl named Millie stay out of jail, not knowing she had taken bonds from a safe. Realizing he didn't do anything wrong years ago, he declares that Lillian is going to marry the fellow she likes.
