François Gomès's cover art is genuinely breathtaking: two small, cloaked figures perch on a mossy log above a still forest pool, while a gathering of luminous, delicately winged fairies hovers and dances across the water's glimmering surface. It's a beautifully atmospheric image — mysterious and inviting in equal measure — that makes this 2019 entry from Daedalus a treat for fans of richly illustrated European fantasy.
