Buster Crabbe #1
In "The Jungle Talks Back," Martians prepare for a fifth expedition to Earth, driven by the belief that previous attempts failed due to human resistance. When the mission lands, Feros—skeptical of human life on a planet with deadly oxygen—turns on his comrade Astros, captures Earth's defenders, and seizes power on Mars, setting the stage for a dangerous confrontation. Art by Ed Martinott, this 1953 adventure blends sci-fi intrigue with a twist of betrayal, all rendered in the distinctive style of the era.

Martians are ready to attempt a fifth expedition to the planet Earth, hoping to have better luck than the previous four, which had met disaster. Feros is highly skeptical, believing that no human life could exist on a planet that is filled with deadly oxygen poisoning. When Astros and Feros land on Earth, Feros knocks out Astros, traps Crabbe and Phelps, and returns them to Mars while demanding a court-martial for Astros for cowardice. Feros is made the new King of Mars, and attempts to have the Earthmen killed along with former King Nemonalus before the truth be known.
