Captain Midnight springs into action when an American submarine struck by Japanese mines becomes trapped on the floor of Tokyo Bay with its crew slowly suffocating. Using a flexible sea-tube invention and a camouflaged flying boat, Midnight and his sidekick Icky attempt a daring underwater rescue—but the Japanese aren't about to let them succeed without a fight. When murder strikes close, Captain Midnight must uncover the deadly secret behind a swarm of bumble-bees used as instruments of revenge—and stop a madman before his own twisted plot consumes him.
