Captain Midnight #6
Captain Midnight faces off against The Baron in a thrilling aerial dogfight over the African desert, where the two skilled pilots engage in a deadly combat above the sands near the Well of Kir Shih. After an intense battle involving evasive maneuvers and gunfire that damages both aircraft, Captain Midnight emerges victorious. The issue also features a separate story titled "Broadcast of Death," in which Captain Midnight must stop a dangerous radio program that broadcasts powerful war weapons information, discovering that the notorious Dr. Lanzer has escaped from a concentration camp and is operating the deadly transmission.
When yellow fever suddenly erupts at the Panama Canal, Captain Midnight springs into action alongside Captain Albright and his experimental mosquito-spray invention—only to discover that the Black Mikado and his Axis operatives are weaponizing infected insects as part of a sinister plot against American forces. As an epidemic spreads through the canal zone and a merchant marine convoy approaches, Captain Midnight must track down the mastermind behind this biological threat before the enemy can strike.
Little Sneezer gets wind of a bootlegger named Reet Pleat Pete who's secretly manufacturing zoot suits in violation of wartime rationing—and decides to go undercover as the man's model to gather evidence. When his undercover scheme takes an unexpected turn, Sneezer's famous allergic sneeze becomes the unlikely weapon that brings Pete's illegal operation crashing down. It's a patriotic romp that proves even the smallest sneeze can pack a punch against unpatriotic profiteering.
When Captain Midnight appears as a guest on a popular radio quiz show, no one suspects that Nazi agents have orchestrated the broadcast as cover for a sinister plot—one that begins with murder and threatens America's most powerful wartime weapon. As Baron Wolfmann and his operatives move to destroy the underground shortwave studios where anti-Nazi broadcasts originate, Captain Midnight races to uncover their scheme and stop them before they can strike. But the Axis masterminds have a plan within a plan, and Captain Midnight soon finds himself trapped and powerless as their final operation unfolds.
