“Il ne suffit pas de mendier l’amour pour l’obtenir”

In "Il ne suffit pas de mendier l’amour pour l’obtenir," a quietly tormented young woman finds herself caught between admiration and fear when a celebrated novelist falls for her and brings her to his isolated estate, King's Legend. As she navigates the grandeur of his home, old whispers of a previous lover’s tragic end stir deep insecurities, leaving her to wonder if love can truly take root where sorrow once lived. The story, illustrated with restrained elegance by Ángel Badía Camps on the cover, unfolds with a quiet intensity that lingers long after the final panel.

An extremely shy young woman from a poor family who works as the companion for a wealthy, domineering distant relative is shocked when a famous novelist shows an interest in her. He falls in love with her and takes her to his home at King's Legend where they plan to be married. While there, she is reminded of the stories of how he once loved another woman who had committed suicide there one night. The reminders re-trigger her own doubts and her lack of confidence makes her question if she can overcome the ghosts of his past to make him happy.
