This French edition of Chimichanga — subtitled La Tristesse du Pire Visage du Monde — pairs a charming little dark-eyed girl strumming a ukulele with a towering, horned green monster sporting a magnificent blue beard, the two of them nestled together against a glowing crescent moon on a starlit teal background. The retro carnival-poster style, courtesy of Eric Powell and Stephanie Buscema, gives the whole cover an irresistible warmth that makes the odd-couple duo genuinely endearing rather than frightening. Published by Delcourt in 2019, this is a delightful entry point into one of comics' quirkiest friendships.
