“Winker Watson”

"Winker Watson" delivers a delightfully mischievous slice of British schoolboy chaos in this 1997 classic from D.C. Thomson. When the cadets of Blob Street are challenged to prove their seamanship, their antics—fleeing the school, scaling a training mast in a panic—unexpectedly win them the Shield of Honour. With the unmistakable charm of David Sutherland’s art and inking, this story captures the spirit of youthful mischief with a perfectly timed twist.

The Blob Street sea cadet force march past and turn their noses away. They are on their way to win the shield of honour for the best cadet force. The captain (teacher) and commodore (headmaster) take the kids to H.M.S. Pompom to see a display of seamanship. Back in school teacher tries to get the kids to climb a training mast. The headmaster sees that they are hopeless. He says he will eat his feathery hat if the kids win. The kids run away from school and when teacher and a dog chase them back they quickly climb the training mast to escape. The admiral sees this and awards them the shield.
