Young Cody of the Pony Express attempts to solve the mystery of who orchestrated a treacherous plot involving a man named Pecos. After encountering Pecos at a saloon and cafe, Cody learns that Pecos claims one of Pecos's men talked and revealed the identity of the brains behind the scheme. Cody pursues the gunman through the desert while Bill Rey uses a lasso to help catch and hold the fugitive, ultimately enabling Cody and settlers to apprehend the culprit and save the day.
